Overview

Saboroso Bistro, nestled in the heart of Kanata, Ontario, brings the vibrant flavors of Filipino cuisine to life in a cozy, inviting space. This restaurant stands out not just for its authentic dishes, but for the genuine warmth in its service and atmosphere. Located conveniently on Eagleson Road, it’s a gem for locals craving a heartfelt taste of the Philippines without venturing far.

The star here is undoubtedly the sisig, a classic Filipino dish that has been elevated to new heights. It’s sizzling, flavorful, and expertly balanced, capturing that perfect mix of tang, spice, and texture. One loyal patron, Chris Magalona, expressed how impressed he was—even as an experienced cook himself—by the chef’s skillful and authentic approach, notable because the chef is Canadian yet has mastered the art so well. This blend of cultural exchange infuses the food with a unique depth, making the dining experience memorable.

The menu is thoughtfully curated with bowls like the tofu gochujang and sweet & sour chicken served over Java rice, capturing popular Filipino flavors alongside inventive touches. Sides like sotanghon guisado and chicken inasal cater to those seeking variety and traditional favorites. For dessert, the halo halo supreme shines—a colorful medley of fruits, ube shaved ice, and creamy ice cream that invites you to indulge in classic Filipino refreshment.

Beyond the cuisine, Saboroso Bistro offers a welcoming ambiance that suits a diverse clientele—from families wanting to explore cultural dishes together, to friends gathering for a night out filled with laughter and great food. Customers note the attentive and friendly staff who add to the warmth, including moments where the chef personally checks in, creating a connection rare in many dining spots today.

In summary, Saboroso Bistro is more than a restaurant; it’s a cultural experience wrapped in flavorful ingredients and heartfelt hospitality. Whether you're a Filipino food devotee or a curious newcomer, this Kanata spot promises satisfying meals and memories worth returning for.

I had an amazing time dining at Saboroso with friends—it was one of those evenings that just hits the spot. The food was outstanding, especially the Sisig. As a longtime fan who’s even learned to cook it myself, I didn’t expect to be this impressed. But Saboroso’s take on it was next-level. What made the experience even more remarkable was discovering that the chef—who I believe is Canadian—crafted such an authentic and flavorful dish. It’s not every day you find that kind of culinary crossover done so well. The personalized service was the cherry on top. The chef herself came out to check on our meal and chat about our dining experience. That kind of thoughtful touch is rare these days and made us feel genuinely welcomed. If you’re looking for great food and warm hospitality, Saborosa is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

We tried the family platter and halo-halo. A bit of a drive for us but definitely worth it. Good portions for the price and the sisig was our favorite. Staff were very accommodating. The only downside was that the signage was a bit hard to spot since it’s shared with two other shops.

Saboroso is a brand new Filipino restaurant in Ottawa’s west end. I highly recommend it! My husband and I tried their sizzling Sisig which is a mix of pork belly, liver, and lots of spices. So delicious! Their roast chicken is one of their signature dish, it’s called Chicken Inasal and it will make your mouth water. They have other dishes serve in a bowl that’s consist of rice, other protein, some cucumber and Atchara which is pickled shredded green papaya. Leave some room for a dessert because they also have Halo-Halo. Well you know what that is!
